Where To Find Rocks is a website that consists of field guides for rock and mineral collecting. They have a new report on finding Geodes in the Midwest. You might be surprised to see the interesting geodes that they found.

An article in the National Journal considers methane emissions from various points in the natural gas production, processing and distribution process. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas and the amount being released is difficult to determine.

Production from the Bakken Formation for the first quarter of 2014 was over 1 billion barrels of crude oil. Over 850 million were produced in North Dakota and over 150 million were produce in Montana.
