Broadleaf herbicides containing the short-chain ester forms of 2,4-D are set to be banned under a proposal from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), according to The Land (18/5/2006, p.9). The authority is concerned the chemicals can evaporate after application, drift on the wind and pose an unacceptable risk to off-target crops and waterways.
