Australian rivers need your protection

People across Australia are being urged to get behind World Rivers Day which will happen on Sunday September 25 as millions of people across the globe celebrate how critical rivers are to communities.
World Rivers Day was established in 2005. The Australian based not-for-profit organisation the International RiverFoundation is coordinating World Rivers Day throughout Australia. Millions of people will celebrate in countries such as the UK, Canada and the USA. Over 60 countries took part in World Rivers Day last year.
Many celebrities are supporting World Rivers Day including marathon swimming star Tammy van Wisse (who swam the entire length of the mighty Murray), Olympic gold medallist Duncan Armstrong, and comedy stars Wil Anderson and Mark Mitchell. Other supporters include Icehouse star Iva Davies, musician Ami Williamson, actor Robyn Nevin andBeaconsfield mining hero Brant Webb.
