On Channel 7 this evening, Hastings-Manning Council are planning to Reclaim properties threatened by Sea-Level rise leaving residents out of Pocket.
This will be evident of many coastal regions so theatened. Who will compensate residents, having to vacate dwellings that will have no value or resale prospects. Insurance companies would, no doubt , have covered themselves for this eventuality. There has been an awareness of this since the 2007 IPCC Report, followed by the Dr. James Hansen report in april 2007. It is now some 5 years later that councils and residents are realising the dangers of living on low lying land in the coastal fringe.

Residents of a coastal community are confused and concerned about their council’s plans after a consultancy firm predicted a rise in sea levels.
They’re worried the local council might purchase their properties because the predicted rising sea levels could threaten their homes sometime in the next 50 years.
