The Australia Institute

Dear Neville —

I am excited to announce that The Australia Institute and Catalyst, a Sydney based think tank, have merged.

We will be having a party to celebrate our new partnership on Tuesday 16 December at 4:30pm and we would love it if you can make it. It will be in the Trades Hall Atrium, 4 Goulburn St, Sydney. You can click here to RSVP.

The Australia Institute and Catalyst have collaborated a lot over the past five years. We have put on a number of joint events, and we have shared ideas and research skills to support each other’s work. I am looking forward to working even more closely with their team and their supporters.

Catalyst has a strong track record of research in areas of significant interest to the Institute, particularly the need to regulate trade between nations, stamp out sweat shop labour, and to inform consumers about the behaviour of Australian companies that rely on imports from countries with poor labour and environmental standards.

In addition to consolidating our research expertise, the merger means that the Australia Institute will have a staffed Sydney office for the first time, and significantly greater capacity to put on events and create conversations between individuals and organisations who share an interest in our research.

It’s been a huge year for the Australia Institute. Our research output continues to grow, and our media and social media profile has never been stronger. Most importantly, we have helped reshape national debates around the budget emergency, the benefits of renewable energy and the need to protect low income workers, as well as having helped shape the way parliament has voted on those issues.

So if you are in Sydney and have an hour or so, why not come along to hear a little bit about what we have been doing, what we have planned, and how our new partnership is going to help deliver even better outcomes than we have delivered so far.

Join us for some Christmas drinks and nibbles to celebrate the new partnership.
