Diesel generators

admin /24 January, 2007

In a submission to the National Emissions Trading Taskforce, Melbourne-based company Wind Farm Developments argued that electricity generators with a capacity of under 30MW should be included in the emissions trading scheme.

Exclusion means small renewable energy projects are penalised: The exclusion of these generators is concerning, they said, because it reduces the scope for the development of small renewable energy projects. For example, in remote areas where the choice exists between a diesel generator and wind turbines/solar panels/biomass plants. Not requiring permits to be purchased for a diesel generator reduces their cost and makes the renewable options less competitive, they asserted.

CO2 no magic pudding: AGL

admin /24 January, 2007

Gas and energy giant AGL has come out against allowing international offsets in a possible Australian emissions trading scheme, saying differences in polluters’ obligations around the world and the small size of the proposed Australian emissions market could lead to Australian consumers paying for emission cuts in less rigorous countries.

Nod for methane collection: In a submission to National Emissions Trading Taskforce on the design of a possible greenhouse gas trading scheme, AGL strongly backed the eligibility of projects relating to the collection and combustion of methane from landfills and from wastewater and other treatment facilities. "These projects are currently economic as a result of the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme. Continued eligibility under the proposed emissions trading scheme would ensure their continued operation," it said.

$800,000 pit returns stormwater to aquifer

admin /24 January, 2007

The University of NSW (UNSW) has built a giant percolation pit under its cricket oval that will collect stormwater run-off from 70 per cent of the main campus and allow it to seep into the Botany Sands aquifer that lies beneath the campus, reported The Sydney Morning Herald (22/1/2007, p. 6).

Oval dug up in November: In November the turf was removed and a chamber about 10 metres wide, 1.6 metres deep and half the circumference of the oval was dug. A milk crate-like structure was placed inside to hold up the turf while allowing the stormwater to seep through to the sandy aquifer.

Benjamin Freedman and the Zionist conspiracy

admin /24 January, 2007

Benjamin H. Freedman was one of the most intriguing and amazing individuals of the 20th century. Born in 1890, he was a successful Jewish businessman of New York City at one time principal owner of the Woodbury Soap Company. He broke with organized Jewry after the Judeo-Communist victory of 1945, and spent the remainder of his life and the great preponderance of his considerable fortune, at least 2.5 million dollars, exposing the Jewish tyranny which has enveloped the United States.

This speech was given before a patriotic audience in 1961 at the Willard Hotel, Washington, D.C., on behalf of Conde McGinley’s patriotic newspaper of that time, Common Sense. Though in some minor ways this wide-ranging and extemporaneous speech has become dated, Mr. Freedman’s essential message to us — his warning to the West — is more urgent than ever before. — K.A.S.

GBE notes: The comments above come from Jeff Rense’s web-site and K.A.S is not readily identified. K.A.S is a populist broadcaster using the Internet to promote his world view (a little like the Ebono Institute) K.A.S obviously is wholly supportive of Freedman’s disaffection with Judaism, but Freedman is not lily white when it comes to exploitative use of propoganda to push a specific agenda.

One of the most controversial figures in twentieth century history, Freedman is largely responsible for the widely held views that US foreign policy is largely dictated by Jewish interests. The Ebono Institute provides this speech here, because it believes it is imperative that people understand the complexity of the issues that have lead to the war in Iraq and the reasons that people are suspicious of Zionist policy.

An attempt at an objective analysis of his contribution to the debate is given by Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_H._Freedman

Generators put wish list for emissions

Submissions in response to the Discussion Paper – Possible Design for a National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme are flowing into the National Emissions Trading Taskforce. Among them ,the submission from the National Generators Forum
, calls for a scheme that minimises the impact on their business
