Dear Neville,
In just seven days, the Upper House of NSW Parliament will debate a Bill that could create an immediate moratorium on unconventional gas, and permanently protect the Northern Rivers, the Pilliga forest and the drinking water catchments of Sydney and the Central Coast from CSG drilling.
Sound too good to be true?
The Bill was introduced by the Greens and amendments moved by the ALP could secure broad political support and see it passed in the Upper House. What other issue could attract the support of parties as different as the Shooters and Fishers and Animal Justice Parties, the Christian Democrats and the Greens?
We want these parliamentarians to hear from thousands of us that support their cooperation for an immediate moratorium on unconventional gas in New South Wales.
Will you email them and ask them to #VoteYes on this Bill?
In just a week, the Bill is due to be debated. We’ll be watching in the gallery of the NSW Legislative Council and watching online via live stream to see who supports action to protect New South Wales from unconventional gas and who doesn’t. If the Bill passes the Upper House, it will then go back to the Lower House in a month or two and force the NSW Government, and the Premier himself, to a vote.
Make sure they’ve heard from you first, and know that you back this important Bill.
Thanks for all your work to bring us to this point.
