Facing life in prison

Promoting women’s rights in China can be dangerous. But former teacher, Su Changlan, had the courage to defend those in need, and is now
facing a lifetime in prison.

Police arrested Su Changlan after she posted comments online supporting pro-democracy protests. While in prison, authorities have isolated her from the world. She hasn’t seen her family in over 10 months and has limited access to her lawyer.

We now have a window of opportunity to help.

On Sunday, China will be hosting global leaders at a women’s rights conference. The Chinese Government will be keen to show the world its commitment to women’s rights.

We must act now and use this timely opportunity. Together let’s shine a light on this injustice and demand her immediate release.
