Brazil prepares for oil-less future

Oil in retreat: "Everyone knows that the world’s energy economy is mainly based on oil, but it’s projected to finish sometime after 2050," he said. "So we need to prepare ourselves for a new kind of energy source and that source is biomass."

Biomass on the rise: Ethanol from sugarcane was the best utilisation of biomass, with one hectare of land in Brazil able to produce 7000 litres. Mr Oliverio believed the current debate about increasing global temperatures, worries about carbon emission levels and concerns about climate change all point to the need to fast-track renewable fuel technology.
