Dear Neville,

What an incredible weekend.

Our Day of Action on Saturday, October 10 was a huge success with over one hundred volunteers out door knocking in the Richmond, Brunswick and Northcote state electorates. Together, we knocked on 2,600 doors and had hundreds of conversations about our campaign to Replace Hazelwood.

Our conversations in inner-city Labor-held marginal electorates mean that key Labor Ministers are feeling the heat — and our petition to Replace Hazelwood is now 11,000 people strong.

On Saturday, we sent a strong message to the State Government that Victorians want to see Hazelwood replaced with renewable energy. Here are a few highlights from what we achieved on the weekend:

But our conversations went even further on Saturday, with our push to Replace Hazelwood reported in The Age. The article shared our plan to support the Latrobe Valley community to transition from coal-fired power stations to clean, renewable industries.

The Greens are calling for a new government-funded body to oversee the Latrobe Valley’s transition from the brown coal industry. The Transition Authority will be responsible for overseeing mine rehabilitation of closed mine sites and attracting new industries to the region. Together we can Replace Hazelwood with renewable energy and create a safe climate.

Thanks for standing with us,

Adam, with Ellen Sandell
